Jacob Estey series - 1869 Birge Street Factory - 8 Main Buildings

The Estey factory, built in 1869 on Birge Street in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA, was Estey’s third organ factory and his largest, as well as the largest free-reed organ factory in the world.

Due to the high demand for Estey Cottage Organs, construction of a larger factory began in 1869.

By 1870, the new factory consisted of four main buildings and several outbuildings.
In 1871, two additional main buildings were added.
In 1873, two more main buildings were added, bringing the total number of main buildings to eight.

The iconic slate-clad main buildings can still be admired today in Brattleboro, where they tower above the town center on Birge Street.
