Summary

Hello, my Name is Michael and i am a Hobby 3D Modeler (Blender)

My focus is on different cultures and traditions of our common earth.
In order to better understand and get to know many cultures and traditions I decided to recreate musical instruments as 3D models.

I try to include the cultural background and the historical development, the morphology, of the instruments.
This also includes cultural buildings and objects that have to do with music and culture in a general sense.

Music and musical instruments can connect but also separate. Music is a second language we all speak, which allows us to express our feelings.
Long before language, we had the possibility to articulate ourselves with sounds or noises that we produced with our bodies.

I started with Japanese musical instruments, where I learned how much history, passion and tradition can be found in a musical instrument.
Japanese music culture with its flagship Gagaku (the oldest existing orchestra in the world founded in 701CE) is absolutely fascinating and captivating in its diversity and history.

Many connections of the Japanese music culture led me to Korea, Mongolia, China, Vietnam or India.

Logically, I made Korean musical instruments next, which I immediately fell in love with.
Korean musical literature is full of attention to detail in the images, which can also be seen in the instruments.

There are instruments such as the haegeum, geomungo or janggu that are immediately associated with Korea, but instruments that came to Korea from the Chinese imperial court have also emancipated themselves in Korea.

Musical instruments that came from the Chinese court and started the Korean court music Aak have been developed into beautiful art objects in Korea.

Carvings of animals on musical instruments can be found on the enchanting Mongolian musical instruments, which beautifully expresses the deep connection of Mongolian culture with nature and animals.

Logically, China is also a very important part of the musical history of mankind.
As a musical and cultural link between China, Korea and Japan, there is, for me, the Sheng Organ.

Called Sheng in China, Saengwhang in Korea or Sho in Japan.

This mouth organ instrument led me to research the music history of Vietnam, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Borneo, India....
and also to the music history of instruments like the accordion, the harmonica, the harmonium, the American melodeon or the Indian harmonium.
Wich all use the Free Reed technique, and was developed in China over 2500 years ago.

I am currently working on the history (musical instruments) of the development of free reed instruments.
Where it came from, how it spread in Europe (European organ history before the free reed technique), how it came to America and India (melodeon, Indian haromnium), and how it came as the American baby organ/harmonium/keyboard harmonica/accordion/ Harmonica back to East Asia (Japan, Korea, China).

My projects are private and mainly serve to improve my 3D model skills and to expand my horizons of knowledge about music history and culture.

I am always interested in projects in the cultural context of music history (3D modeling: instruments, architecture)

If you have a request please send me a PM on Artstation
maybe you also need additional material from the projects I have already published (please PM on Artstation)
