Bishguur - Mongolia Flute Instrument - Trumpet - ᠮᠤᠩᠭᠤᠯ ᠤᠯᠤᠰ

Bishguur (double reed instrument ), a Mongolian metal trumpet with ornamental decorations. Called Shell Trumpet in Mongolia.

Very diverse playable, the common way of playing uses the index finger, ring finger and little finger on the left hand. The middle finger, ring finger and little finger of the right hand. The "free" fingers have space in between and the thumbs are on the back for stabilization.

On Youtube videos of monks playing Bishguur in Mongolia or Tibet, I could see another additional finger position.

The index finger, ring finger and little finger of the right hand are used, and the index finger, middle finger, and ring finger of the left hand.

The "free" little finger of the left hand goes on the back like the thumb.

The little finger of the right hand and the index finger of the left hand are placed on top of each other.

The different finger positions may have something to do with the ceremonial course of the monastery music.
