Aeolian by Charles Wheatstone

Around 1827 the first Aeolian instruments came from Germany to England, where they were called Mund Harmonika.

Whaetstone was fascinated by the new free reed technique.

As early as 1828, Charles Wheatstone began working on improvements to this instrument, which led to the invention of the symphonium in 1829 and the English concertina (1844).
