Reed Music Instruments 簧片音乐 - Physharmonika - Free Reed - Anton Häckl (1821)

In 1821, the Austrian instrument maker Anton Häckl received a patent for a free reed instrument called the Physharmonika in Vienna.

The instrument was built using free reed technology, which was new in Europe in the 19th century CE but had already been further developed.

The Free Reeds no longer had a tuner and were tuned with wax.

Later, new patents were filed that preferred the tuning by filing metal (a method that is still common today)

Anton Reinlein, a music box maker from Vienna, soon received a patent for an improvement in the production of a Chinese-style harmonica.

The Chinese-style harmonica probably means the physharmonica, probably because it was built with similar free reeds and because the reeds, similar to the Chinese Sheng, were initially tuned with wax.
