This zither dates from the time of the Three Kingdoms of Korea (57 BC to 668 AD). It is said that the Gayageum was developed by King Gasil based on an ancient Chinese instrument. The zither has been around since 551 AD or earlier. The bridges are designed in the form of goose feet. There are 2 different gayageum: Jeonak gayageum and Sanjo Gayageum. They differ in size and design features.
