MIKO 巫女 Japanese Shrine Maiden

Miko, are Japanese shrine maiden. Mikos once worked as shamanines and priestesses. Today they are more likely to be found as shrine ceremony assistants in shinto shrines. According to Chinese records, the first miko could have been the shaman queen Himiko, so there is a connection to gagaku and my current project.
